Low Propensity Voters Are Showing up in VA Early Voting

Virginia is heading into its 5th Week of its 45-day Early Voting stretch for the 2024 General Election that will decide America’s President, Vice President, Virginia’s Congressional Seats and one of its Senate seats.

EPEC Team’s volunteer CTO Jon Lareau has been breaking out the “countable” tally by three voter types:

High Propensity = Voted in 75% or more of the November General Elections on file.

Medium Propensity = Voted in less than 75% of November General Elections on file.

Zero Propensity = Voter has never voted in November General Elections on record. (Prior version used ‘Low’ Propensity. ‘Zero’ is more accurate for these voters.)

EPEC Team has taken the latest tallies as of Oct. 21, 2024 for the 11 Congressional Districts (early ballots in “countable” state, which includes in-person voting and by-mail). From there, we broke out the propensity of voters who make up the countable tallies thus far. It shows that voters who have not been inclined to vote in recent elections, or who have never voted, are casting ballots early. In past elections, these numbers have been much lower. The numbers show growth in turnout week over week of between 40% and 50%.

See the interactive chart below to navigate the numbers.
